The Elgersheimer Country Mansion is situated between the River Main, a memorable
assortment of vineyards and a cultivated countryside of fruit trees. On the winding country roads
connecting the Mansion to surrounding villages, you will discover several historical buildings and castles,
which date back from the 16th to the 19th Century.
After discovering the fascinating history of Franconia, why not explore the River Main on
the “Mainfähre” (Main ferry), and enjoy a glass of “Frankenwein” (the wine for which
this area is famous).
When trekking through what has been called the ‘Toscana of Franconia’, a visit to the
historical church “Maria im Weingarten” on the vineyard hills is a must, as it holds the
sculpture of the famous ‘Riemenscheider-Madonna’. The church can also be seen from
the Mansion at night, as its lights provide a warm glow over the vineyards on the horizon.
On the opposite side of the River Main from the Elgersheimer Country Mansion, lies the “Vogelsburg”.
This beautiful, ancient monastery situated around 100 m above the surrounding villages of Fahr and Volkach,
provides a spectacular view of the vineyards surrounding it, and the far reaching countryside of Franconia.
On the large sight-seeing boat “Undine” you can relax and enjoy the view of the banks of
the River Main and the countless vineyards on the horizon, whilst cruising over the River itself. These views can also be enjoyed whilst cycling or trekking, as there are plenty of foot and cycle paths leading out from the Mansion.
